Las Yácatas 2023
Las Yácatas constitute the archaeological zone of Michoacán with vestiges of the Purépecha culture, with a surprising circular shape. There are five structures located on a platform of 400 square meters, where archaeologists indicate that a temple dedicated to the worship of their gods, such as Curicaueri, could have been erected. The buildings were built with large stepped stone blocks and a mosaic-like coating of flagstones. The pre-Hispanic city of Tzintzuntzan, was without a doubt one of the largest and most important populations at the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, being the capital of the Tarascan Señorío, the place from where the most important political, economic and nuns from a vast territory that covered almost the entire state of Michoacán, parts of Guerrero, the State of Mexico, Guanajuato and Jalisco. The ancient city of Tzintzuntzan was built by means of wide terraces and large platforms that are accommodated on the slopes of the Yarahuato and Tariácueri hills, on which their houses and religious and administrative buildings were planted. In this city lived the Señores Uacúsechas - Lords Eagle -, leaders of this important domain who through a hereditary dynasty governed it.
